A recent study by Holidu revealed that Portugal is the safest country in Europe for female digital nomads. The research, which analysed data from platforms such as Numbeo and Nomads.com, highlighted several Portuguese cities as being among the safest on the continent.
Aveiro, known as the “Venice of Portugal”, topped the rankings with 91.45% of women feeling comfortable traveling alone. Porto, Coimbra, Portimão and Lisbon were also mentioned as safe and welcoming destinations.
In addition to safety, Portugal offers:
– Digital nomad visa for stays of up to one year
– Affordable cost of living
– Beautiful landscapes and pleasant climate
– Welcoming expat community
Other highly ranked European cities include Venice (Italy) and Valencia (Spain)[1]. Overall, Taipei (Taiwan) was considered the safest city for female digital nomads.
This recognition reinforces Portugal’s position as a top destination for remote workers seeking security and quality of life.
